About us
Wargames Illustrated (Wi) has been providing historical, sci-fi, and fantasy wargaming coverage to our fans since 1987!
- We are the world’s best-selling miniature wargaming magazine, with almost 450 issues of Wi produced over the last four decades.
- We continue to print each issue; an increasing rarity these days…

- Our content is written by a small team in Attenborough, Nottingham, and contributors from around the world.

WE WANT YOU TO WRITE FOR US!
Contributions
Wargames Illustrated magazine thrives on the passion and expertise of wargamers, miniature collectors, painters, and modellers – enthusiasts like you! Each month, our magazine features a curated selection of articles submitted by members of our vibrant community.
Interested in contributing?
We would love to hear from you! Please take a moment to download and review our Contributors’ Notes; this guide provides essential information and examples to help you write for Wargames Illustrated.
Guidelines
While we welcome a wide range of topics related to the fascinating and diverse world of wargaming, please note that we prioritise articles that best showcase the two words in our name – Wargames Illustrated. Although wargaming and military history are closely linked, we do not publish articles that are primarily historical with only a secondary emphasis on wargaming. If you can provide us with good-quality images and photographs your contribution will be far more likely to leap up the ladder to publication too.
We look forward to your articles and relish the chance to share your unique insights with our readers!
Taking photos for Wargames Illustrated
Photographs are rather essential to fulfil the ‘Illustrated’ part of our magazine’s title and we want you to snap the best pics possible. If you’re practiced with a digital SLR camera, that’s wonderful, but even mobile phones can take photos that are good enough for publication.
